What Florario is
Florario (flor + calendario, “flower” + “calendar” in Spanish) is a free calendar with every date of the year on which it is customary to give flowers in Spain and Latin America: which flower is given, in which countries and why, with the seasonal flowers of each month. It brings together both the long-standing dates, such as Valentine’s Day, Sant Jordi or Mother’s Day, and the trends born on social media, such as the yellow flowers of September 21, the blue flowers of October 3 or the purple flowers of November 9. It is an independent project by Héctor Abenia: it doesn’t sell flowers or charge anyone to be featured.

- 3 dates born from a song, such as “Flores amarillas” from Floricienta or Cecilia’s “Un ramito de violetas”.
- 19 guides by date or occasion and 14 flower pages with their meaning and season.
- 6 countries with their own page and seasonal flowers for three regions: Spain, Mexico and Central America, and the Southern Cone.

All the figures come from the calendar itself and update automatically when a date is added. Every trend is checked against at least two media outlets from different countries; the method is explained in About Florario.

The PDF is for personal use: if you want to publish or distribute it, write to us first. The flower photos on the website aren’t ours: they come from Wikimedia Commons and each has its own author and license, shown at the bottom of each page. If you use them, credit the author according to that license.
Widget: the next date for giving flowers
If you run a flower shop, or a wedding or lifestyle blog, you can embed a box on your website showing the next date for giving flowers and how many days are left. It updates itself, uses no cookies, loads nothing from third parties and links to the full calendar. For now the widget is in Spanish. This is how it looks:
